Goals, Expectations and Classroom Policies

Goals
In order to have a successful school year, I feel it is important that together, as teacher and parent, work as a team to assure your child's success. Below you will find my goals, expectations and classroom policies that will help make the classroom a safe and secure environment in which your child will be able to learn. The following goals are for the upcoming school year:
In our classroom, every student has the right to be in a safe, caring classroom environment where the main goal is learning. A classroom cannot be a good place for learning unless there is strong classroom management. Below you will find the behavioral expectations I expect all students to follow.
Classroom Policies
Regular communication is necessary for a successful school year. Communication between parent(s), teacher(s), and school must take place on a regular basis. Please check your e-mail, my website, and your child's RED folder for updates, homework/project information, and student progress information. I will contact you within 24 hours of receiving a message. When you need to contact me, please do one of the following things:

- I will engage students in learning activities that will meet the individual needs of each student.
- I will use varied teaching techniques in lessons in order to help students discover for themselves how to learn and think.
- Students will be given many opportunities to learn how to become risk-takers and decision-makers.
- Students will learn how to apply what they are learning in the classroom to the world around them.
- Together, we will create a learning environment in which every student feels safe, confident, and empowered to learn.
- We will learn to celebrate the great cultural diversity in our world through experiences in the classroom.

Classroom Policies

I will contact you within 24 hours of receiving a message. When you need to contact me, please do one of the following things:
- Call school and ask to leave me a message: 623-376-4868
- Send a note in your child's RED folder or planner
- Email me at [email protected]
- The students will know due dates for all homework/projects/class work.
- Students will write due dates in their student planners. I will check planners daily during the first quarter.
- The student will turn in all work upon morning arrival to the classroom the day it is due. It the student's responsibility to turn in all assignments.
- If a student chooses to not turn in their homework, a slip will be sent home for a parent signature. I find that when parents are informed, issues such as not turning in assignments and/or homework tend to disappear. I look forward in partnering with you in this.
